I can honestly, easily, excitedly say…this was the happiest week of 2018 (so far anyway). Being in this spot, a 20 minute walk from the nearest town, a 2 minute walk to the ocean, was where I found my happy, my really happy. There was ease in the air. The sights were natural and bursting with Portuguese charm. The big oval windows topped with terracotta roofs. The giant caves echoing our whispers. The crystal clear waters so cold, so refreshing. This week really was everything and I’m so happy to be finally sharing these images!
The dream life looked like this…easy mornings starting at the ocean, midday at home eating homemade food, afternoon wanders to wherever we feel. Simplicity. Nature. That is all. No restaurants, and although this is something we usually love, it did not seem to matter. Just us, no plans, surrounded by this beautiful, natural landscape.
Inspiration was everywhere. I felt motivated, calm and most importantly complete, grounded and content. Which leaves me with this, it’s not so much a place we fall in love with, but the way it makes us feel. Carvoeiro, or Vale de Centeanes to be more exact, you made me feel my best self and this week will be one I always look back to when I want answers on life!
A little on the area.
We stayed in a petit AirBnB right on Vale de Centeanes. From there, you can walk to Carvoeiro in 20 min, there is a healthy Earth Café on route with a few veggie friendly restaurants. Although the town itself was a little touristic, it’s most definitely a sight to be seen. However, some of my favourite places were along the coastal walk such as Algar Seco and Praia de Vale Covo. It’s one of those places you can just set out with no plans and whichever turn you take will have a pleasant surprise. For our food needs (plant based) we did a big shop at Apolonia, which satisfied all our vegan cheese needs!
